About The Regenerative Medicine Organization

What is Regenerative Medicine?

Man has always known that the human body can heal itself.  For thousands of years people have observed minor cuts and abrasions go through a process of healing, a process often referred to as regeneration.

Hippocrates, the father of Modern Medicine, taught his students that the human body could heal itself and return to good health.  His patients were given something to relieve pain, but nothing else was done for them except to ensure that they are a moderate amount of food and exercised moderately.  Hippocrates knew the body could heal itself; thus, the first rule of medicine comes from this oath, “First do no harm!”

While it’s easy to see a cut upon the arm heal itself through regeneration, it’s less understood that the same regenerative process is continuously ongoing within the body.  Bone, muscle, blood, intestines, nerves, liver, kidneys and other areas of the body are constantly regenerating and repairing themselves.

While medical science has known for a very long time that the body regenerates itself, it has only been in the last 20 years in the New Era of medical biotechnology that breakthroughs have shown the degree of how the body regenerates itself.  For example, medical researchers now know that approximately 10% of a person’s bones are regenerated every year by the body.  The average person does not realize this.  The fact that a healthy man of 75 years of age has bones which have an average age of 7 years is still not appreciated but it has a tremendous impact on treating bones.

Why is Regenerative Medicine Important?

Regenerative medicine will fulfill the promise that medicine will be able to regenerate damaged tissues and organs within our living bodies.  Tissue and organ failure can be stopped, and then healed by creating new healthy tissue.  This requires the individual to take care of themselves so that the body’s regenerative capabilities can be used.  Regenerative medicine will be more natural and less toxic than traditional drugs.  This type of therapy will transform the human condition and permit a world in which humans suffer from fewer diseases, and enjoy a vastly improved quality of life.

Researchers are using this new understanding of the body to cure diseases and regenerate parts of the body. An example of regenerative medicine is Dr. Thomas Stegmann’s work
With Cardio-Vascu-grow, ™ a human fibroblast growth factor to stimulate the growth of new blood vessels in ischemic areas of the body.  Another example would be the use of Interferon alpha to treat Hepatitis C.  Interferon helps the body boost its immune system to beat Hepatitis.

What Will Regenerative Medicines Cost?

Regenerative medicine will vastly lower the cost of healthcare.  A good portion of current healthcare costs are from cardiovascular disease and the aging of our bodies. As 70 millions baby boomers reach their 60’s healthcare costs will change, as well as how each one of us approaches healthcare. Regenerative medicine will be crucial to lowering health care costs and improving health.

The Regenerative Medicine Organization Mission

The Mission of the Regenerative Medicine Organization (RMO) is to increase awareness of the regenerative process and to advance this understanding in the medical, scientific and the public communities.

First, by advancing the medical and biological sciences of Regenerative Medicine. Second, by assisting with the advancement of those medicines and treatments which help the body regenerate.  Third, by revealing which of those medicines or treatments, diminish the body’s ability to regenerate.

It is also crucial to the mission of the RMO that people understand that their own bodies are continually regenerating, and that the secret to a long and healthy life is to do those things which enhance the regenerative process and to diminish those things which hinder the regenerative process.

The Regenerative Medicine Organization will be a clearing house of information on regenerative medicine and treatments.  Our conferences will bring together scientists, researchers and the medical community to discuss and share ideas in areas of regenerative medicine.  Our website and newsletter will also have information on how you can live better and strengthen your body’s regenerative capabilities.  We will also present information about medicine and treatments that respected doctors believe will harm your body’s ability to regenerate. Regenerative medicine is the future of health care.

The regenerative medicine symbol represents “life” in the old Russian alphabet, a fitting representation of regenerative medicine.
